The reality star said on Sunday night that she is “re-evaluating” her relationship with Balenciaga after the luxury fashion brand received widespread criticism for a campaign that featured children posing with teddies in what seemed to be bondage equipment.
She stated on Twitter, “As a mom of 4, I have been shaken by the unsettling images.” Children’s safety must be the highest priority and attempts to normalize child abuse should not be tolerated in our society.
Last week, photographs were taken of a Balenciaga campaign with children holding teddy bears in leather gear similar to that used in BDSM, which stands for bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, and sadomasochism. One photograph showed a kid holding a bear wearing wrist and lower leg restrictions with a lock and chain around its neck.
“Not because I haven’t been sickened and infuriated by the current Balenciaga drives, but because I desired an option to say with their team to understand how this could have happened,” Kardashian stated when asked why she had waited to speak up.
I appreciate Balenciaga’s apology and removal of the campaigns. She stated, “I think they comprehend the sincerity of the problem and will take the essential measures to ensure that this does not occur again after speaking with them.”
In response to the criticism, Balenciaga apologized “sincerely for any offence our holiday campaign may have caused” in a post to its Instagram story last week.
It stated, “Our plush bear bags should not have been featured in this campaign with children.”
Balenciaga’s Instagram posts had been hidden or deleted as of Sunday evening. Instagram comment sections are frequently used as a public platform for criticizing brands or public figures.)
“Currently re-evaluating my connection with the brand, basing it on their readiness to accept responsibility for something that should have never occurred, to begin with — and the actions I am wishing to see them take to safeguard children,” Kardashian, who has served as a spokesperson for Balenciaga, stated.
Kering, the parent company of Balenciaga, and Balenciaga did not immediately respond to inquiries regarding Kardashian’s statements.
