NEW YORK (AP) — All that “gilded excitement” acquired some genuine gold. Museum authorities said Tuesday that the current year’s Met Gala procured a record $17.4 million.
The yearly gala is a pledge drive for oneself subsidizing the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The cash pays for working the institute and putting on yearly blockbuster shows like the current “In America: An Anthology of Fashion”, which was sent off at the gala Monday night and opened to general society on May 7. That display is essential for a more extensive two-section show investigating the foundations of American design.
The gala is generally held on the main Monday in May, but the 2021 adaptation was held last September after the pandemic. The two galas together acquired $33.7 million, the institute said.
